Shrink the load before we arrive
You pay for the space your junk fills, so anything you can compact saves money. A little prep can drop you a whole tier.
- Bag loose clutter instead of leaving it spread out
- Break down cardboard boxes flat
- Nest smaller items inside bigger empty ones
- Pull apart bed frames and flat-pack furniture if you can
- Stack the pile in one place so nothing gets missed
Where hazardous items actually go
Paint, fuel, solvents and propane cannot legally ride in the truck. Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have free or low-cost depots for almost all of it.
- Paint and solvents: Product Care return depots at many paint retailers
- Motor oil, antifreeze and filters: participating auto shops and transfer stations
- Propane tanks: exchange programs and select recycling depots
- Batteries and light bulbs: retail take-back bins
- Ask us and we will tell you the nearest depot for your address
What is worth donating instead of dumping
Charities want usable items, not damaged ones. Knowing the line saves you a wasted trip and keeps good things out of the landfill.
- Clean upholstered furniture with no rips, stains or pet damage
- Working small appliances and kitchenware
- Tools, bikes and sports gear in usable condition
- Sealed, unopened building material
- Point out donation items and we drop them off for you
Clearing a garage without losing a weekend
Garages fill up because decisions get deferred. A single sorting pass beats months of shuffling boxes.
- Work one wall at a time, not the middle of the floor
- Make three zones: keep, donate, haul
- Set a rule for anything untouched in two years
- Photograph sentimental items you are letting go
- Book the truck for the same day you sort, so it actually leaves
Preparing for an estate cleanout
Estate work goes best when the family agrees on the order of the rooms before we arrive.
- Walk the house once and mark rooms that are not being touched yet
- Collect documents, photos and jewellery before the first load
- Decide who has the final say on borderline items
- Tell us if the visit needs to be discreet or unmarked
- Plan for more than one load — full homes rarely fit in one truck
